These days everybody knows someone who is collecting some sort of stuff. For most of us the act of collecting is a harmless hobby, but for others it can evolve to a problem that causes them to lose control. This uncontrolled and excessive buying and storing of stuff is called hoarding.
"Chickadee, My Mother and the Oddities of Nesting” is a personal journey for me to better understand what lies behind all this. Why are we so affected by material objects, and why it is so difficult for us to let go of stuff. The work is an analogy between two hoarding species: chickadees (birds) and my own mother. It is a study about her hoarding behaviour and a documentation of her treasures.
